Gary Sinise is one of those people. You might recognize him from Forrest Gump, Apollo 13, or The Green Mile. But it’s his charity work that has earned him millions of admirers worldwide.

Sinise played Lieutenant Dan in Forrest Gump, and now he’s focused on honoring and supporting U.S. military veterans.

His foundation is dedicated to helping veterans, first responders, and their families. It’s a cause he’s deeply passionate about.

“We can never do enough to show gratitude to our nation’s defenders, but we can always do a little more,” Sinise once said.

One of the programs in his foundation is called ‘Snowball Express,’ which started in 2017. Its mission? To honor fallen U.S. soldiers by taking their children to a place every kid dreams of—Disneyland—for free.

Since then, over 1,750 children have enjoyed a five-night trip to the Orlando theme park.

To honor their fallen loved ones, the kids and their parents received “We Remember” pins.

In an interview with CBS Los Angeles, Sinise explained, “The most important thing about [Snowball Express] is that these children don’t feel alone. There’s a lot of healing, bonding, and friendship that helps them through the rest of the year.”
