All around the world, countless dogs and cats live in animal shelters. Some are lucky enough to find a loving family, while others patiently wait for their turn to be adopted.
Shelter workers do their best to give these animals a comfortable life while they wait. One dog shelter in England reached out for help, hoping kind-hearted people would step forward to lend a hand.
They posted a message on their Facebook page, asking for donations of knitted sweaters for dogs. “We encourage anyone who knows how to knit to help by making sweaters for our dogs, especially those feeling cold and lonely during the Christmas holidays,” the post read.
Among the people who answered the call was 89-year-old Maise Green. Maise, who loves both knitting and dogs, jumped right in to help. She was eager to put her passion to good use and quickly began knitting for the shelter dogs.
Over the next three years, Maise knitted more than 450 blankets and a huge number of dog sweaters. She could knit a blanket in just three days and a sweater in one day. In fact, she enjoyed knitting while watching TV, making it a relaxing and rewarding activity.
The shelter staff is incredibly grateful for Maise’s help. Thanks to her efforts, the dogs no longer fear the cold weather. They can now stay warm, comfortable, and cozy, all thanks to her loving work.
