The Shelter Dog Who Came Back with All He Owned: His Bed and Toys

Wall-E thought he’d found his forever home in 2015. But three years later, he was brought back to Maricopa County Animal Care and Control, with all his things packed in two garbage bags.

All he had left were his bed and toys. If you’re wondering why he was returned, you’re not alone. His owners were heartbroken. They didn’t want to say goodbye to Wall-E after three years together. The shelter staff said it wasn’t an easy choice—it was full of tears.

“This sweet guy deserves a forever family that won’t give up on him ❤,” they shared. “Please don’t blame his previous owners. We don’t know the full story. But we saw their pain, the tears, and the heartbreak. Even the staff cried when it was time for them to leave. This decision was not made lightly.”

Wall-E, poor guy, was left so confused, wondering what he did wrong.

Shelter manager Jordan Bader explained why Wall-E was surrendered. “His family didn’t have enough time for him,” Bader shared. “He was scared, barking nonstop in his kennel.”

The shelter shared Wall-E’s story and photos online, hoping someone would give him another chance. Soon, his story went viral. Alongside the photos, they wrote, “Here’s Wall-E being surrendered 😞. His owners brought all his stuff… like it was going to stay with him for two months in his kennel.”

Wall-E, a 6-year-old Lab mix, waited at the shelter for nearly two months. Then one day, Lynn Lee arrived, ready to take him home. She brought her other dog along so they could meet, and they hit it off right away.

Today, Wall-E’s life is all about love and fun. He spends his days with his new family and furry friend, playing in the park and soaking up the sun.

PS: Never adopt a pet if you’re not committed for life. Animals are family, and sticking with them takes courage. Leaving is easy; the real challenge is fighting for what you truly love.
