We’re all born with something that makes us unique. It’s these little differences that make us beautiful in our own special way. Embracing diversity is what helps humanity grow, and it’s something we celebrate more every year.
Meet Nicole Lucas Hallson, a mom on a mission. She’s raising two wonderful kids, Asher and Winry, but her goal goes beyond just motherhood. Nicole wants to show the world the beauty of imperfection, and her daughter Winry is the perfect example.
Winry was born with a rare condition called congenital melanocytic nevi (CMN). It’s a big, noticeable birthmark that covers much of her face, setting her apart from other children. But Nicole’s love for her daughter goes far beyond her appearance.
When Nicole first saw Winry, she was a mix of shocked and concerned. At first, she thought the birthmark was a bruise, but then she realized it was something much more unique. Even though she worried about what it meant for Winry, all she felt was love and a strong desire to protect her daughter.
CMN is a condition where the skin has large brown or black patches. It can be different for every person, but in Winry’s case, it’s a big part of what makes her, her. Nicole and her partner don’t just accept it—they want the world to see how beautiful it is.
For them, Winry’s birthmark is more than just a physical feature. It’s a way to start important conversations about accepting each other’s differences. Of course, they’re aware of the health risks, like a higher chance of skin cancer, and take precautions to keep Winry safe.
But Nicole’s biggest worry? That Winry might face bullying as she gets older. Will other kids be kind? Will they understand that what makes her different is also what makes her beautiful?
But if you ask Nicole, Winry is more than ready to face the world. She’s happy, talkative, and brings joy to everyone around her. No matter what challenges lie ahead, Nicole and her partner are committed to raising Winry with the confidence and strength to overcome them.
At Newsner, we share Nicole’s message: that everyone deserves to be loved for who they are. We believe every child—like Winry—should be embraced with open arms. Let’s spread some love and confidence today. Share this story and remind everyone that we are all beautiful, just the way we are!
