DoorDash Driver’s Rude Reaction to a 25% Tip Sparks Backlash

A new tipping controversy has sparked heated debates online, this time involving a DoorDash driver who wasn’t too thrilled with a 25% tip on a $20 pizza order. The interaction, caught on video, has left viewers divided, with opinions ranging from support for the driver to outright disbelief at his reaction.

It all began when Texas homeowner Lacey Purciful uploaded a TikTok showing her encounter with the driver, identified as Corey. Lacey had tipped $5 for her $20 pizza order—a more-than-customary 25%. But that didn’t seem to sit well with Corey.

The video starts with Corey arriving at Lacey’s home and exchanging pleasantries. Things take a sharp turn when Corey looks at the house and remarks, “I just want to say, it’s a pretty nice house for a $5 tip.”

Caught off guard, Lacey responds sarcastically, “You’re welcome.” Corey, clearly unimpressed, fires back with a blunt “**** you” before walking away.

Lacey, baffled by the encounter, overlaid the clip with text asking: “So how much should I be tipping for a $20 pie??”

The video quickly went viral, with TikTok users flooding the comments. Some sided with Corey, arguing that $5 wasn’t enough considering the cost of gas and upkeep for delivery drivers. One commenter wrote, “I don’t blame him. Why give him a $5 tip for a six-figure home you live in?”

Others, however, were outraged by Corey’s rude behavior. “I hope you contacted his employer. Manners cost nothing!” one person wrote, while another added, “He didn’t have to accept the order if he thought it wasn’t worth it!”

Lacey confirmed in the comments that she reported the incident to DoorDash. She even attempted to revoke the $5 tip, explaining that the driver’s reaction was unacceptable. According to Lacey, Corey was eventually fired over the ordeal.

While tipping has always been a hot-button topic, this viral exchange raises questions about what’s considered fair in an increasingly polarized tipping culture. Should the size of someone’s house dictate how much they tip? And at what point does venting frustration cross the line into rudeness?
