Sometimes, the smallest actions make the biggest difference. That’s what Randy Jones discovered one sweltering day in Oklahoma City.
Randy was out placing warning signs for new construction when he noticed something unusual at an intersection. A teenage boy was standing by the side of the road, clutching a stop sign pole with both hands. The temperature? A blistering 95°F.
Randy couldn’t just drive by. Something about the scene didn’t sit right. Curious—and a little concerned—he approached the teen to find out what was going on.

“I was like, ‘What in the world is this kid doing?’” Randy told News 9.
The 17-year-old, named Logan, had a surprising answer. Earlier that day, Logan noticed the stop sign had been knocked down. Without it, drivers were approaching the intersection with no clear guidance. He even witnessed a near-miss accident.
Logan didn’t wait for someone else to fix the problem. Instead, during his lunch break from work, he grabbed the sign and held it upright himself.
Randy was floored by Logan’s quick thinking and selflessness. “Not a lot of people would do what he did,” Randy said. “To have the awareness to get out and help—it’s pretty cool.”
Wanting to help, Randy immediately called the City of Oklahoma City to report the downed sign. While waiting for city workers to arrive, he snapped a photo of Logan and shared it on Facebook, writing about the teen’s incredible act of kindness.
The post blew up, gathering over 3,500 shares and countless comments praising Logan’s actions. People couldn’t get enough of the teen who stood in the blazing heat to keep drivers safe.
“Hopefully this gets back to this young man,” Randy wrote in his post. “You did a good job, and I’m sure the citizens of Oklahoma City appreciate it as well.”
Sometimes, it’s the simple choices—like stepping up when no one else will—that show us the power of kindness. Logan’s story reminds us that heroes don’t always wear capes. Sometimes, they’re just teens holding stop signs.
