3 Kids Approach Stranger’s Porch, but What They Leave Behind Is Stunning

Porch pirates and yard vandals seem to be everywhere these days, leaving many homeowners frustrated. To combat the chaos, people are installing more cameras and security systems to keep an eye on their homes. But when Jamie Carlton checked his surveillance footage recently, he wasn’t prepared for what he saw.

The video showed three kids marching up to his porch like they were on a mission. At first, Jamie thought something might be wrong. The trio approached single file, rang the doorbell, and then one of them started speaking to the camera while gesturing around. But Jamie couldn’t make out the words.

Then, as quickly as they appeared, the kids did something just out of view and hurried back down the driveway. They hopped on their bikes and pedaled away. Suspicious, Jamie rushed outside to see if anything had been stolen or damaged. What he found left him speechless.

On his porch sat a black wallet. When Jamie opened it, he realized it belonged to his son, Nigel—and it was stuffed with $700 in cash.

The kids in the video weren’t up to no good. They were doing something extraordinary.

The group consisted of 13-year-old Haylie, her 6-year-old brother Reagan, and their friend Ashley Dayton. While biking to the pool, the trio spotted the wallet under a car. Instead of leaving it—or worse, keeping the money—they decided to do the right thing.

“Someone else could take it, and it wasn’t safe leaving it there in plain sight,” they later explained.

Determined to return it, the kids checked the address on the driver’s license and rode to Nigel’s home. When no one answered the door, they noticed the security camera and decided to leave the wallet in a safe spot on the porch.

The oldest, Haylie, looked into the camera and explained their good deed:
“We found your wallet outside of your car and we just thought we would give it back to you. I’m going to put it over here so no one takes any money. You’re welcome. Thank you.”

Jamie was blown away by their honesty and kindness. “Watching the video and seeing what they did has restored my faith in humanity,” he shared.

The kids’ mom, Kerri Eddy Wenke, couldn’t have been prouder. “As parents, we always hope our kids are doing the right thing when we’re not around or no one is watching,” she told The Daily Mail.

Jamie decided to post the surveillance video online to thank the kids for their amazing act of kindness. The video quickly went viral, with people applauding the trio for their integrity.
