Pregnant Mom Breaks Down in Tears After Learning She’s Having Another Girl

Kendra Evens was convinced she was having a boy. After three daughters, this was her last pregnancy, and she just knew things felt different this time. So when the moment of truth arrived, and the gender reveal confirmed she was expecting another girl, emotions took over—big time.

In a now-viral TikTok video, Kendra and her family gathered in the woods, anxiously waiting for the reveal. A carved pumpkin sat in front of them, releasing a cloud of white smoke. And then—pink. As soon as the color appeared, Kendra covered her face, overcome with emotion.

“We got a girl?!” one of her daughters shouted, while another, visibly upset, blurted out, “What? Why do we have to get a girl?” Meanwhile, a voice in the background cheered, “Girl gang all day!” But Kendra couldn’t hold back her tears, and her husband rubbed her back, offering comfort.

@dailydoseofmygirlgang Gender disappointment is real so dont judge us, little did we know our nellie would complete our family & we couldnt be happier to be raising our 4 daughters! She later opened up about the experience in an interview with People, explaining that she had been hesitant to even do a gender reveal because she feared exactly this reaction.

“I didn’t want to be disappointed in front of people if it wasn’t a boy,” she admitted. “But then I reminded myself that this was my last pregnancy, and I didn’t want any regrets.”

When the pink smoke appeared, she was flooded with emotions. “I couldn’t help but cry,” she said. “Thoughts rushed in—I’ll never have a son. I’ll never know what it’s like to have a mother-son bond. No ‘mama’s boy’ for me.”

Her oldest daughter’s reaction also sparked debate, but Kendra defended her, saying she had always dreamed of having a little brother. “Gender disappointment is real—for both moms and dads. Our feelings are valid. Just because someone is initially disappointed doesn’t mean the baby isn’t loved.”

Many moms in the TikTok comments related to Kendra’s experience, sharing their own stories.

“I had gender disappointment when I found out I was having my third boy,” one user wrote. “But now he’s my everything, and that feeling disappeared.”

Another shared, “Same, but with four boys. I feel you 100%, and it’s so valid. My youngest is 1.5 years old now, and I still have moments of sadness about never having a daughter.”

But not everyone was sympathetic. Some urged Kendra to be grateful, reminding her that many women struggle to have even one child. “It’s hard not to feel judgmental about this when so many women, myself included, can’t conceive at all,” one person commented. Kendra responded with kindness, saying, “I’m so sorry you’re struggling with that. Sending lots of baby dust your way!”

Another commenter reassured her in a different way: “As a hospice nurse, believe me when I say, daughters step up way more than sons when parents grow old. You and your husband will be well taken care of.”

At the end of the day, Kendra knows one thing for sure—she’s the proud leader of a full-fledged girl gang! And while her reaction was raw and unfiltered, she hopes it helps normalize conversations around gender disappointment. Because in the end, love always wins.
