Would You Do This? Mom Lets Toddler Draw on Floor, Says It’s ‘Healing’

Most parents set strict boundaries when it comes to messes, but one mom is taking a different approach—letting her toddler draw all over the floor. And while she sees it as a way to “heal her inner child,” the internet has some strong opinions.

Arizona mom Kira Osuna shared a now-viral TikTok video of her two-year-old scribbling away on the kitchen floor with colorful markers. In the overlay text, she explained, “Healing my inner child is letting my two-year-old color on the kitchen floor while I’m cooking.”

Osuna revealed that her daughter even asked permission before starting, and she happily said yes. But don’t worry—she does have boundaries. When her toddler tried to extend the artwork to the cabinets, she drew the line (literally) and said no. Surprisingly, the little artist listened.

The Internet Reacts

As expected, the internet had a lot to say about this unconventional parenting move.

Critics slammed Osuna, arguing that this kind of leniency leads to entitled kids. One person wrote, “This isn’t healing anything. You’re just letting your kid boss you around.”

Another added, “My inner child wasn’t ruined because I couldn’t color on the floor. I get what you’re trying to do, but this isn’t it.”

However, not everyone was against it. Many praised Osuna for encouraging creativity and self-expression.

“It’s your home, your rules. Encouraging creativity is a win!” one commenter wrote. Another suggested, “Why not put up a giant piece of paper on the wall? That way, she still gets to create, but without the floor mess.”

Osuna reassured critics that her child understands boundaries. “She knows she’s only allowed to do it right here and has to clean up afterward,” she explained.

Cleaning Up the Controversy

After the backlash, Osuna posted a follow-up video showing the spotless floor. “For everyone panicking, the floor is clean. It took one minute to mop. And yes, my two-year-old did it herself,” she said.

In an interview with TODAY, Osuna shared why she allows this unconventional activity. “I’d rather foster my daughter’s creativity and confidence while she’s safely exploring at home. Plus, she learns responsibility by cleaning up afterward.”

She also clapped back at the criticism, saying, “People are acting like I handed my daughter a steak knife. I think people fear what they don’t understand.”
