Mom Admits Doing Her Kids’ Homework—Is She Helping or Hurting Them?

Parenting in the digital age means every decision is up for debate, and one mom has just ignited a big one.

Lottie, a U.S.-based mom of three, took to TikTok to reveal a controversial parenting choice—she does her kids’ homework for them. With daughters in fifth grade, third grade, and kindergarten, she believes the stress of schoolwork just isn’t worth it, especially after long days filled with activities like cheerleading and sports.

“I know every parent helps, but I just do the homework,” she admits. “I’m not going to let them stress over math problems they don’t have time for.”

Her stance? Kids are already overwhelmed, and some of their assignments are just too demanding. “Some of these projects teachers give… I mean, these kids are seven years old!” she says.

The internet, of course, had mixed feelings.

Some parents praised her approach, calling it “amazing parenting” and admitting they do the same. “I aspire to be this kind of mom!” one commenter gushed.

But not everyone was on board. Critics argued that handling their homework robs kids of important learning experiences. “If you do their work now, don’t be surprised when they grow up entitled and lazy,” one person warned.

Teachers also chimed in, emphasizing the long-term benefits of children completing their own assignments.

And then, another layer to the debate emerged—should young kids even have homework?

One mom shared her experience with a no-homework policy in primary school, only to regret it when her child struggled in high school. “Now I’m questioning if no homework was really a good idea.”

On the other hand, some parents want to eliminate homework entirely. “My house is a homework-free zone,” one commenter declared. “They’re in school all day—why should they have to come home and do more work?”

So, where do you stand? Are today’s kids drowning in homework? And would you step in and complete your child’s assignments if they were overwhelmed? Let us know in the comments!
