Every animal has a playful side, and some majestic creatures show it in the most unexpected ways. Not every human gets to witness the fun moments of these animals, but photographer Giuseppe D’Amico did just that.
One day, D’Amico was at Kurile Lake in Russia, snapping photos of brown bears. He had been capturing images of the bears hunting red salmon upstream when he spotted one bear doing something totally unexpected—taking a bath in the lake.
Most bears come to the lake for food, but this particular bear seemed to be in the mood for some relaxation. It was clear that he was enjoying the moment, and the sight was downright hilarious.
D’Amico shared his reaction, saying, “I was taking pictures of bears hunting salmon when I saw this one in the distance. He was washing his hair like a human would. It was so funny! He was really focused but so clumsy at the same time.”
During this season, Kurile Lake is packed with sockeye salmon, and the bears love to feast on them. But this bear, clearly not in a hurry to hunt, decided to take a much-needed bath instead.
This isn’t the first time a bear has gone viral for its playful side. A few years ago, another bear gained internet fame when it was filmed splashing around in a pool at a wildlife conservation center called Single Vision in Florida. Just like that bear, this one proved that even the most majestic creatures need a little fun.
