When Lois Ghost-Adderley and her husband hired a professional videographer to capture their big day, they expected memories they could cherish forever. What they didn’t expect was a shocking discovery hidden in the footage—an insult-laden commentary from the videographer himself.
Lois recently shared her story in a Facebook group called UK Wedding Suppliers & Brides, hoping to warn others. “My goal is to spread awareness about unprofessional suppliers,” she wrote, explaining the ordeal.
The couple hired James David Films for their 2021 wedding, paying £1,600 ($1,980) for what they believed would be a flawless keepsake. While the video did include their special moments, Lois noticed some strange choices, like more footage of plus-ones than their actual family members. But at the time, she decided not to complain.
Fast forward a year. James contacted the couple, informing them he was clearing their footage from his website and advising them to download it soon. Seeing an opportunity, Lois asked if he had any original footage of their first dance with audio. James confirmed he did but requested an additional £100 for the raw files.
Though she felt the fee was steep, Lois agreed. However, what she and her husband discovered next turned their stomachs. While reviewing the footage, they heard a man’s voice—allegedly James—mocking their wedding guests. “What the f*** is wrong with these people? F***ing m***ngs,” the voice said, seemingly speaking to someone James had brought along as his plus-one for the day.
Lois shared the incriminating clip in her Facebook post, where group members were quick to rally behind the couple. One user commented, “I am so sorry you had this experience. So unprofessional.” Another added, “Wow, what an idiot! There’s messing up, and then there’s this.”
To make matters worse, James reportedly blocked the couple on social media after the incident. “We didn’t even get an apology,” Lois wrote. “I highly doubt he’s sorry.”
According to the Daily Mail, James has since apologized and vowed to resolve the situation. But for Lois and her husband, the damage was done.
Their story is a stark reminder to vet your vendors carefully—and to always check the fine print, even if it means replaying your wedding footage with fresh eyes.
