Crying Baby? This Dog Has the Perfect Toy to Help Calm Him Down

Meet Brutus, a 2-year-old bullmastiff who lives with his human parents in Northern California. He’s one adorable pup with a personality that could melt anyone’s heart. Like most dogs, Brutus has a stash of toys, but there’s one he’s absolutely obsessed with. It’s a fluffy yellow ball, and unlike most of his toys, this one is still in perfect condition.

This yellow ball? It’s his treasure. Brutus takes extra care of it, treating it like the crown jewel of his collection. Bonnie Michalek, his human mom, says Brutus is like their first child—and it’s easy to see why!

When Bonnie got pregnant, Brutus’ behavior started changing in ways that seemed almost… magical. Even before her belly started showing, he seemed to know something was happening. On nights when Bonnie’s husband worked late shifts, Brutus refused to sleep in his crate. Instead, he’d curl up next to her bed, or if she told him to move, he’d settle right by her side on the floor.

At first, Bonnie was annoyed. Why wouldn’t Brutus just sleep where he was supposed to? But now, looking back, she realizes Brutus was taking his role as the protector of the house seriously. He knew something was different, and he wanted to be there for her.

Then came Kayden, the baby. From the moment Bonnie and her newborn came home from the hospital, Brutus was ready. He immediately stepped into his role as the “big brother,” never leaving Kayden’s side. His new job? Guarding and comforting the little one.

And here’s where it gets truly heartwarming: Whenever Kayden cries, Brutus, in all his wisdom, knows just what to do. Without a second thought, he trots over and gently drops his beloved yellow ball in front of the baby, as if to say, “Here, this will help.”

Bonnie and her husband couldn’t believe it. Their dog had become the world’s best babysitter. They now call Brutus the best older brother ever.
