Forget Dogs and Cats—This Guy Cuddles Lions and Tigers!

When you think of dangerous predators, lions, tigers, and cheetahs are likely at the top of the list. Sure, they’re technically cats, but these are not the kind you want curling up on your lap.

Yet, that doesn’t faze Armand Gerber and his wife. This daring duo runs the Iron Throne Predator and Wildlife Park, a sprawling 200-acre sanctuary in South Africa. Their daily companions? Ten lions, three tigers, two leopards, and one cheetah—all happily coexisting with other rescued wild animals.

Most of these majestic creatures were born in captivity, and a whopping 90% of them were raised by the couple themselves. Eight of the lions came from a facility shut down for poor treatment, and for Armand, they’re not just animals—they’re rescues. In his eyes, they’ve found their forever home.

Owning lions isn’t exactly a popular choice, and Armand faces criticism regularly. But he brushes it off, saying he’d own every captive lion in the world if he could. That’s how much he loves these animals.

And the feeling is mutual. Armand says his wild cats adore cuddles and love playing with their human friend. Yes, these creatures are apex predators—dangerous and unpredictable. Armand knows the risks better than anyone. But for him, it’s a life of passion, respect, and trust.

“Some people think I’m crazy,” Armand admits with a grin. “But this is what I do for a living, and it’s what I love.” He never forgets how lucky he is to work so closely with these magnificent animals.
