He Tried to Save $250—Her Response Left Him Speechless

Have you ever made a decision you regretted so much that you tried to undo it—only to make things worse? Well, one young man found himself in exactly that predicament, and his story will leave you laughing out loud.

It all started with a $500 agreement to spend the night with a captivating woman. But by morning, he wasn’t feeling too great about his “investment.” So, instead of paying up in full, he tried to get clever. Spoiler alert: It didn’t end well for him.

Here’s how it all went down.

The man, short on cash but full of confidence, promised the woman he’d send her $500 via check through his secretary. To avoid raising eyebrows, he decided to label the payment as “RENT FOR APARTMENT.” So far, so good, right?

But as he headed to work, second thoughts crept in. Was the night really worth the full $500? In his mind, not quite. Feeling bold, he instructed his secretary to send only $250, along with a cheeky note explaining why.

Here’s what he wrote:

"Dear Madam,
Enclosed, find a check in the amount of $250 for rent of your apartment. I am not sending the amount agreed upon because when I rented the apartment I was under the impression that:

    1. It had never been occupied.
    2. That there was plenty of heat.
    3. That it was small enough to make me cozy and feel at home.

Last night, however, I found it had been previously occupied, that there was no heat, and it was entirely too large."

Confident he’d made his point, he sent the letter. But what came next would leave him speechless.

The woman promptly returned the $250 check with a response that can only be described as legendary. Here’s what she wrote:

"Dear Sir,
First of all, I cannot understand how you expect a beautiful apartment to remain unoccupied indefinitely.

As for the heat, there is heat if you know how to turn it on.

Regarding the space, the apartment is, indeed, of regular size, but if you don’t have enough furniture to fill it, please don’t blame the landlady!

Please be so kind as to send a check for the full amount of $500, or I’ll be forced to contact your current landlady."

Ouch. Talk about a mic drop!
