Some stories are just too good to ignore. A Canadian photographer recently stumbled upon one of nature’s most unexpected masterpieces—a hilariously shaped iceberg—and the internet can’t get enough of it.
Ken Pretty, a drone photographer from the aptly named town of Dildo, Newfoundland, spotted the iceberg off Harbour Grace and couldn’t resist sharing his discovery. The photos quickly went viral, racking up over 5,000 shares on Facebook. Why? Well, this iceberg resembles something… let’s just say, a little risqué.
“It looks a lot like, well, part of the male anatomy,” Pretty admitted in an interview with CBC News. Naturally, social media couldn’t help but dive into the joke.
One cheeky commenter wrote, “Judging by the photo, it can’t be too cold out!” Another quipped, “New definition of blue balls,” while someone else joked, “Now if that ain’t the tip of the iceberg, I don’t know what is!”
Pretty, sensing the iceberg’s comedic potential, even captioned one of his shots, “Guess I’ll get a few comments on this one.” He wasn’t wrong.
The now-famous “dickie berg” has not only spread laughter but also highlighted the fleeting beauty of nature. Pretty mentioned that the iceberg is melting quickly, making his snapshots even more special.
According to the Canadian Ice Service, there are currently over 200 icebergs drifting along Newfoundland’s coast, with dozens more spotted near Labrador. Diane Davis, who manages a Facebook group for iceberg enthusiasts, noted that this year’s numbers are promising compared to the previous year.
“Onshore winds brought in both the pack ice and the bergs. If this trend continues, we’ll see them through May and June,” Davis shared.
Pretty’s viral snaps remind us of something important: sometimes, amidst the chaos of life, nature gives us a reason to laugh. So, thank you, Ken Pretty, for bringing joy to our feeds with your perfectly timed photos.
