Meet Lexi X: a 15-year-old saxophonist and vocalist from Brisbane who stole the spotlight on The Voice Australia. Her unforgettable blind audition may have been cut short at the Battles stage, but she left a lasting impression with a performance that’s still buzzing online today, with over a million views!
Lexi’s audition was nothing short of mesmerizing. She took on “Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes, adding her own magical twist. Not only did she nail the vocals, but she brought her saxophone into the mix, creating a unique, soul-stirring sound that had the judges hooked from the first note.
It didn’t take long for the judges to react. Jessica Mauboy closed her eyes, lost in the music. Jason Derulo couldn’t help but nod along. Rita Ora, completely captivated, swayed in her seat, unable to resist the groove. And then, bam, Rita hit her button first, eager to see who was behind such a raw, powerful performance.
When Rita turned around, she was stunned to see Lexi’s youth and talent combined. Jason quickly followed suit, hoping to bring this prodigy onto his team. But in the end, Lexi chose Rita, who shared her love for Lexi’s style and even introduced her to future champ Tarryn Stokes.
But Lexi wasn’t the only one who made waves that season. Rita also had her eye on a boy band called Overnight. Their Larger than Life cover by the Backstreet Boys made Rita jump to her feet, hitting her button before they’d even hit the chorus. While all four judges were smitten by the group, Overnight ultimately joined Guy Sebastian’s team.
