Imagine this: You’re at the airport, killing time before a flight with a mimosa in hand. Sounds harmless, right? Not for TikToker Kandace H, who claims she was booted off a flight after enjoying just one and a half mimosas at the airport bar.
In a now-viral TikTok video captioned, “SPREAD THE WORD! @alaskaair THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE!!” Kandace recounted her ordeal with raw frustration. The video has amassed over 1 million views, sparking a heated debate about airline policies and passenger rights.
@kandace_h SPREAD THE WORD ! @alaskaair THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE !! I AM LIVID !!! The flight attendants on flight #714 from Portland to Vegas need to be fired !! I was BLATANTLY lied on & removed from the plane…UTTERLY embarrassed by your staff !!! I have flown with this company too many times & have only had pleasant things to say about it, until today ! #pdx #alaskaairlines #discrimination #foryou #fyp ♬ original sound – Kandace H
Kandace was flying from Portland to Las Vegas when things took an unexpected turn. After boarding, a flight attendant approached her. Assuming it was a routine request to stow her backpack, Kandace was blindsided when the attendant told her she needed to leave the plane.
“Are you kidding me?” she asked repeatedly, bewildered by the demand.
The trouble reportedly started when Kandace used the in-flight restroom before takeoff. Unfamiliar with the plane’s facilities, she sought assistance from the crew. She even joked about her lack of bathroom knowledge while on the phone with coworkers.
However, the flight crew seemed less amused. After spending about 10 minutes in the restroom, Kandace returned to find the flight attendant questioning her sobriety. According to Kandace, the crew claimed she was slurring her words and had whispered, “I’m drunk, shhh.”
But Kandace firmly denied the accusations. “I had a drink, but I wasn’t drunk or belligerent,” she insisted. “I thought this was a joke.”
The situation escalated, and despite other passengers vouching for her, Kandace was removed from the flight. She had to wait until 10 PM for the next available flight, finally arriving home near midnight.
The comments section on her TikTok lit up with reactions. Many were outraged on Kandace’s behalf.
“I get on planes tipsy all the time! As long as you’re not causing trouble, what’s the issue?” one user wrote.
Another encouraged her to “lawyer up!” adding that they’ve had similar experiences without any problems.
Others shared tips, with one commenter warning, “Never admit to having alcohol in your system—they’ll pounce on it.”
In a follow-up video, Kandace revealed that several passengers had spoken up in her defense, questioning why she was being targeted. Despite their efforts, her flight home was still delayed, leaving her frustrated and exhausted.
@kandace_h Still didn’t say EVERYTHING cause i only had 3 minutes 🙄 Regardless, the ppl being accusatory in the comments are still going to feel a way, but idc. I SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN REMOVED & IMA STAND ON IT ! Wasn’t tryna make it about race, but idk what else to think…she wasn’t that friendly to begjn with, but WE deal with that often, i was in a great mood & didn’t think about things escalating the way they did. #alaskaair #discrimination @alaskaair #fyp #kandac_h #foryou #airline #pdx ♬ original sound – Kandace H
This incident has left social media buzzing with questions. Was the airline overreacting? Or is this a case of miscommunication spiraling out of control?
