Man Says He Doesn’t ‘Help’ His Wife With Housework—And Women Are Cheering Him On

A Texas husband has gone viral for saying he doesn’t “help” his wife with chores—but before you jump to conclusions, his reasoning is winning over the internet.

Let’s be honest: household responsibilities have come a long way. Gone are the days when chores were divided into outdated “pink” and “blue” categories (or at least, they should be). But one UPS driver from Texas is taking things a step further—and people are loving it.

“I Don’t Help My Wife—It’s My Job Too”

Meet J.R. Minton, a 32-year-old dad who shook TikTok with a statement that made viewers do a double take. In a video with over 6 million views, he boldly declares:

“I don’t help my wife cook. I don’t help her clean, do laundry, or take care of the kids—none of that.”

At first, his words seem like the start of a hot take no one asked for. But then, he flips the script.

“I do what I’m supposed to do as a father and a husband,” he continues. “I cook. I clean. I do the laundry. I take care of the kids. I can’t ‘help’ my wife with those things because they’re my job too.”

Boom. Mic drop.

The Internet Reacts

The comments section was a battlefield at first—until people realized what Minton was actually saying. Then, the mood shifted entirely.

“You are a REAL man, husband, and father,” one person praised. “You, sir, are the example to follow.”

Another chimed in: “Had to tell my husband to stop saying, ‘…for your mother,’ to the kids. Empty the dishwasher FOR ME? No. Those are everybody’s dishes.”

Minton’s philosophy on marriage wasn’t just something he stumbled upon—it was shaped by his past. “Pretty much everything about my parenting style is in spite of what I saw when I was growing up,” he told Today.com.

The Moment That Changed His Perspective

One particular experience cemented his belief.

While out shopping, Minton was pushing a cart with two kids and carrying a baby when a woman approached his wife and gushed, “Oh my God! Is this your husband? Look at him. You should take a picture of him.”

The reason? He was simply parenting.

Minton was baffled. “I get so much credit for doing nothing. How low is the bar?” he asked.

And that’s the point. Being an engaged father and equal partner shouldn’t be a rare, praiseworthy act—it should be the norm.

A Lesson for Everyone

Minton’s viral message is inspiring men to rethink the way they talk about—and approach—household responsibilities. His advice?

“Change the way you speak, change the way you think, and grow up and be a man.”

What do you think? Should equal partnership in a marriage even be up for debate? Let us know in the comments! And if you agree with Minton, share this with someone who needs to hear it.
