Fashion has no age limit, and Britt Kanja and Günther Krabbenhöft are living proof. These stylish Berliners, both in their silver years, turn heads everywhere they go with their unique sense of style, proving that fashion is truly timeless.
Years ago, Günther went viral as he earned the nickname “Hipster Grandpa.” People couldn’t get enough of his unexpected talent for dance, which he discovered later in life. “Since then, I’ve been able to skip my other fitness programs,” Günther joked with Süddeutsche Zeitung. “I just need a little strength training on the side.”
You might think Günther worked in fashion, but surprisingly, he was a chef. “I would have liked that, yes,” he says. “But I wasn’t someone who rebelled. I did what my parents told me.” Cooking was “a completely normal job,” he adds, though it was hard at first.
Still, this “Hipster Grandpa” always had a flair for fashion. “In Hanover, where I grew up, we used to wear miniskirts—back when they were just starting to become popular for men! With Roman sandals, too. But we quickly let that go,” he recalls. When Günther moved to Kreuzberg over 30 years ago, he embraced the alternative look, dressing mainly in black, but always with his own unique twist.
