Mom Shuts Down Critics By Showing Her Rare Twins With Down Syndrome Are Pure Joy

Imagine finding out you’re expecting twins. Exciting, right? Now add the news that both of your babies will be born with Down syndrome. For Savannah Combs, 23, this was a curveball she never saw coming.

But instead of despair, Savannah embraced the unexpected and now shows the world just how beautiful life can be — even when others doubt it.

Savannah and her husband, Justin Ackerman, were overjoyed when they learned they were having twins. But their journey came with challenges. The twins, Kennadi Rue and Mckenli Ackerman, were diagnosed with Down syndrome while Savannah was pregnant. Doctors even suggested terminating the pregnancy.

Her response? An unwavering “No.”

“Every prenatal appointment where they were still alive was a blessing,” Savannah said. Her love for her daughters only grew stronger.

Born prematurely at 29 weeks, the twins had a rough start, spending weeks in the NICU. On top of that, they’re mono-di twins — meaning they shared a placenta but had separate sacs. That alone is rare. Add Down syndrome, and Savannah explains, “It’s like one in 2 million.”

Despite the odds, Savannah proudly shares their milestones on TikTok, where the girls are adored by thousands.

“They’re just like any other kids,” she says. “They have emotions, they have beating hearts, and they’ll get there. Maybe a step behind, but they’ll get there.”

Unfortunately, not everyone sees it that way. Savannah faces cruel comments online, including people saying they wouldn’t “want” her babies.

Her fiery response? “Good thing they weren’t born to you but to me. God knew what He was doing by giving these babies to parents who’d love them unconditionally.”

Savannah’s words shut down the critics and remind us all of what matters most: love, acceptance, and celebrating life in all its forms.

Through every smile, laugh, and step forward, Savannah shows the world that her twins are not a burden — they’re a blessing.

“They’re my little treasures,” she says. And judging by their joyful faces, the feeling is mutual.

These beautiful girls are proof that love conquers all. Share their story and remind others of the beauty in embracing differences.
