New Mom’s Baby Name Goes Viral for All the Wrong Reasons

Picking the perfect baby name is already stressful—but imagine choosing one you love, only to have strangers rip it apart online. That’s exactly what happened to UK-based influencer Liana Jade, and her emotional response is breaking hearts.

Liana, a 24-year-old YouTuber from Wales, was devastated after discovering that a fellow influencer couple mocked her baby’s name on their podcast. She and her partner, Connor Darlington, had lovingly chosen the name Koazy (pronounced “Cozy”) for their newborn son. But when The Unplanned Podcast hosts, Matt and Abbey, brought up “unusual baby names,” Koazy became the punchline.

Liana stumbled across the podcast clip when it was reposted on TikTok, and she couldn’t hold back her tears.

“They were talking about people giving their kids new and original names,” she shared, wiping her eyes. “They were saying how ridiculous some of these unique names are.”

It didn’t stop there. The podcasters went as far as calling unique names a “red flag” and suggesting that “it might not be the flex you think it is.”

Liana, frustrated but composed, took to TikTok to clear up the misconceptions.

“Our baby is called Koazy, and I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea… but people have twisted the story,” she explained. “People think we named him Koazy because he was cozy in the womb, but that’s not the case. We had already picked the name! It just felt even more right when people started saying, ‘He’s so cozy in your belly.’ We thought, ‘Oh my God, it’s meant to be!’”

She continued, “I knew not everyone would love the name, and that’s fine. But it’s different when a big influencer’s video becomes a space where grown adults sit around slandering my baby’s name.”

Liana admitted that if the situation were reversed, she would have been more mindful before posting such a discussion publicly.

“I think it’s cruel,” she added. “If I had posted that video myself, I would have considered how naming someone’s child like this could affect them.”

Despite the drama, many TikTok users rushed to Liana’s defense, praising the name Koazy and offering their own stories about baby-name backlash.

“Koazy is adorable—it fits him so well! Don’t listen to them!” one supporter commented.

Another shared their own experience: “My family hated the name we picked for our baby. We’re in the UK and named him Randy—they couldn’t stand it! But I don’t care. He’s my baby, not theirs.”

Although comments on the podcast video have since been disabled, Liana isn’t letting the negativity stop her. She continues posting proud, joyful moments with baby Koazy—just as she should!
