She Wanted to Look Younger—Now She Can’t Even Close Her Eyes

When it comes to looking and feeling our best, some people go to extraordinary lengths. That’s why cosmetic surgery has become so popular. But what happens when the pursuit of beauty takes a devastating turn?

Meet Yulia Tarasevich, a former Miss Russia beauty contest runner-up, whose story serves as a haunting warning. Yulia, a 43-year-old mother of two, decided to address small signs of aging with a facelift, eyelid surgery, and cheek fat reduction. She trusted a renowned clinic in Krasnodar, Russia, paying $4,000 for what she thought would be a flawless procedure.

Instead, her life took a horrifying twist.

“I went in with a beautiful, healthy face,” Yulia shared on Channel 1. “I just wanted to fix minor signs of aging. But I lost my health instead.”

The surgeries left her disfigured. Yulia couldn’t close her eyes, smile, or lift her upper lip. Parts of her face were paralyzed. The cause? Necrosis—a condition where tissue cells die. She even had scars from where the tissue was removed.

Doctors rushed to perform emergency procedures, but the damage was done. Yulia later developed scleroderma, a rare condition that hardens the skin—though she admits this hasn’t been proven.

Adding insult to injury, the surgeons, Dr. Andrey Komarov and Dr. Omar Khaled, denied responsibility. Yulia was left to pick up the pieces, spending $27,000 on follow-up treatments while fighting to hold the doctors accountable.

“The surgeons blamed me for everything,” she said. “They disfigured me and walked away without consequences.”

Yulia took her fight to court, accusing the doctors of negligence. The case gained momentum, and the Russian Investigative Committee began identifying other potential victims from the same clinic.

Justice may finally be within reach. Dr. Komarov has been charged with providing unsafe medical services. If convicted, he faces up to six years in prison and hefty fines. Meanwhile, Yulia’s civil lawsuit continues as she battles depression and struggles with the lasting effects of her ordeal.

Despite the hardships, Yulia has found strength in the support of others. She shared a heartfelt message: “Thank you to everyone who stood by me. Your kindness means everything.”

Her story is a sobering reminder of the risks involved in cosmetic surgery. Before making any changes to your appearance, consider the potential consequences—and always choose your surgeon carefully.

Share Yulia’s story with friends and family to spread awareness. Let’s make sure no one else faces the same nightmare.
