Farmington, Missouri – In a world obsessed with youth, six extraordinary sisters are here to remind us that age is something to celebrate. Together, they’ve achieved what few could dream of – setting a Guinness World Record for their combined age of over 570 years.
These remarkable women, known as the Overall sisters, span generations of wisdom, love, and laughter. Norma Jacob, the eldest, is a sprightly 101 years old. The youngest, Elma Jennings, brings the family “youth” at 88. Filling the ranks are Lorene Kollmeyer (98), Maxine Cole (97), Doris Griffith (94), and Margaret Norton (90).
It all started with a simple idea from Norma’s son, Dean. Inspired by his family’s longevity, he encouraged the sisters to go for the record. And they did! With the help of Guinness World Records experts, over 100 documents were verified to confirm their jaw-dropping combined age of 570 years and 40 days.
To celebrate, the sisters posed for a touching photograph, proudly wearing matching t-shirts with their names. Each of their smiles tells a story – a testament to decades of love and shared memories.
Reflecting on their childhood, Maxine, 97, said their parents taught them to live by the golden rule: “Treat others as you’d want to be treated.” Raised in the First Baptist Church in Farmington, these values have remained the foundation of their lives.
The family remains at the heart of their happiness. Every summer, the sisters continue a tradition their late mother started – a joyful picnic celebrating the July birthdays of three siblings. Their connection extends to their cherished brother, Stanley, whom they adore.
Lifelong friend Janet Douglas describes the sisters as intelligent, lively, and warm-hearted. “They’ve always been kind and devoted to family,” Janet shared.
So, what’s the secret to their record-breaking bond? Love, laughter, and loyalty. These sisters have proven that the key to a long, fulfilling life isn’t just about the years you live – it’s about how you live them.
