Talk About Timing! Twins Arrive on Their Parents’ Birthday

For one extraordinary family, August 18 will forever be a day of celebration and joy. Not only do mom and dad share the same birthday, but now their twin babies do too!

Scierra Blair and José Ervin Jr. recently welcomed twins, Aŕia and José III, on what has become a day full of serendipity. The newborns arrived earlier than expected, turning their parents’ shared birthday into a quadruple milestone.

“They were supposed to be due on August 28, so it was a surprise to us,” José shared in an interview with Good Morning America. “We thought we had more time.”

But the coincidence doesn’t stop there. When Scierra and José first started dating, they discovered they had been born not only on the same day but just one year apart. At first, they didn’t believe each other and had to pull out their IDs to prove it.

Fast forward to their pregnancy journey, and the dream of sharing their birthday with their children became a real possibility. During a routine doctor’s appointment on August 17, Scierra was told she was ready for delivery.

The twins, however, had their own plans. One was in a breech position, requiring a cesarean section. José humorously recalls encouraging Scierra to hold off just a little longer. “I kept telling her, ‘Let’s have the kids on our birthday. It’d be amazing!’”

The stars aligned, and the medical team gave the go-ahead for the procedure just after midnight. At 12:35 AM on August 18, José III made his entrance into the world, followed by his sister, Aŕia, just one minute later. Both babies were born healthy, weighing just over 5 pounds each.

“They’re completely healthy,” Scierra shared. She admitted the pregnancy had been challenging, but she was grateful to have made it so close to her original due date.

Even the hospital staff were amazed by the rare event. Jennifer Eaton, chair of obstetrics and gynecology at Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital, described the situation as incredibly unique. “It’s extremely rare for both parents and their newborn twins to all share the same birthday. We were thrilled to be part of such a special delivery.”

Now, the family is already making plans for future birthdays. For the twins’ first birthday, Scierra hopes to take them on a cruise, while José dreams of a family trip to Disney World.

Reflecting on the remarkable timing, José summed it up beautifully: “I feel like it’s going to be great. It’s a blessing. I can’t wait for us to celebrate our birthdays together.”
