A Claw Clip Nearly Took Her Life—Here’s What You Need to Know
For many, a claw clip is a go-to accessory. It’s simple, stylish, and perfect for getting your hair out of the way. But one TikToker’s terrifying experience will make you think twice before wearing one in the car.
Paisley, known as @paisley.rileyyy on TikTok, shared a harrowing story of how this innocent-looking hair accessory turned into a nightmare. After a car accident, her claw clip didn’t just stay intact—it embedded itself into her head, leaving her with injuries that required five staples to close.

“The claw clip didn’t even break,” Paisley explained in one of her videos, holding up the blood-stained clip. “They casually just handed it back to me.”
Her ordeal began when she was riding in a friend’s boyfriend’s car. A sharp turn at just under 20 miles per hour caused the vehicle to roll. The back of Paisley’s head hit a metal bar, and the impact drove the claw clip into her scalp.

“I was lucky,” she said. “I only needed staples. But I’ve heard of people who weren’t so lucky. Some have died from brain damage caused by claw clips in accidents.”
Paisley’s TikTok account initially showed graphic footage of her injuries, but TikTok removed it for being too explicit. Still, she’s determined to spread awareness, warning others of the risks associated with wearing hard accessories like claw clips while in moving vehicles.
She recounted her hospital visit, where doctors ran CT scans and X-rays to ensure she hadn’t suffered brain damage. Miraculously, she walked away with only minor injuries, but her story could have ended much worse.
“I just want girls to know how dangerous it can be,” she said. “I was very lucky. But it’s not worth the risk—it could be so much worse than five staples.”
Paisley’s experience has prompted countless comments from others who shared similar tragedies involving claw clips. Her message is clear: remove your clip before you buckle up.
The next time you’re heading out, maybe opt for a simple elastic or scrunchie instead. A claw clip might be cute, but safety comes first—especially when it could mean the difference between a close call and a life-altering injury.
