Watch How This Officer Saved a Bear Cub at Great Personal Risk

In a world where humans are usually told to keep their distance from wild animals, one brave officer did the unthinkable—and risked his life to save a bear cub. Here’s his incredible story.

Thomas Owens, a State Trooper from the Town of Carroll City in New Hampshire, is no stranger to bears. After all, his area is home to around 5,000 of them. But one day, while watching a mother bear and her cubs cross the road, something didn’t feel right.

As the family made their way across, Owens noticed that one little cub wasn’t keeping up. In fact, it kept circling back to the road. That’s when he realized—this cub was sick. The mother bear, in an instinctive act of survival, had to make a tough choice. She left the ailing cub behind and moved her healthy cubs to safety in the woods.

But Owens couldn’t just stand by. He knew that the cub needed help. So, he called the New Hampshire Fish and Wildlife for assistance. Then, without hesitation, he went straight to the cub, fully aware that the mother bear might return at any moment.

Thankfully, help soon arrived, and after searching the area, they found another abandoned cub—also sick—hidden deep in the jungle. Both cubs were taken to a rehabilitation center where they received the care they needed to recover.
