A Modern-Day Rapunzel With 90 Inches of Hair That Trails Behind Her
For Alia Nasyrova, hair care isn’t just a routine—it’s a lifestyle. At 33, Alia has grown her cascading brown locks to an eye-popping 90 inches, earning her the nickname “Real-Life Rapunzel.” It’s taken her two decades of patience and dedication to match the fairytale princess she admired as a child.
“I’ve always been fascinated by long hair,” says Alia, who hails from Latvia. “As a child, I adored the princesses in fairytales, and now, I feel like I’ve become one!” But she’s more than just a modern-day Rapunzel—Alia has turned her stunning locks into a career, modeling her hair online and creating content for her devoted fans.
Her dream? To travel the globe, connect with other long-haired women, and share their unique stories. “I see long hair as an art form,” she explains.
But art, as they say, requires dedication. Alia’s hair routine is nothing short of intense. Washing her hair takes an hour, and drying it? A full day. When she steps out, she carries a 22-pound bag filled with shampoos, conditioners, and tools to keep her hair in top condition. Oh, and her hair gets “workouts” too—on her yoga mat!
Even her husband, Ivan, is in awe of her flowing tresses. “I respect her braid like it’s alive,” he jokes. “Sometimes, I even ask it to move over so I don’t damage it!”
Of course, having hair longer than most people are tall comes with its challenges. Alia recalls a childhood disaster when chewing gum got stuck in her hair during a trip to the theater. “It was awful—I had to cut off a big section to get it out!”
Despite the occasional snag (literally), Alia doesn’t hold the world record for long hair. That title belongs to Xie Qiuping of China, whose hair measures an unbelievable 18 feet 5 inches—about the height of a giraffe!
Caring for hair that long may seem daunting, but for Alia, it’s a labor of love. Her dedication is nothing short of inspiring, showing that sometimes, fairytales really can come true.
What do you think? Could you handle the weight (and work) of hair that long, or do you prefer something simpler? Share this story with your friends and see how they’d handle life as a modern Rapunzel!
