What You Give Always Comes Back: The Power of Karma

Today’s heartwarming story is about a man and a university student, showing how small acts of kindness can come full circle. Life is filled with coincidences, but when it comes to karma, there’s always more going on beneath the surface.

The bank was packed with people, all waiting to deposit their money. Among them was a young college girl carrying a jar of coins.

Deric Wortham, standing in the same line, noticed her small amount of money and made a lighthearted joke. But when she explained that it was all the money she had, his heart sank.

It reminded him of his own days as a struggling college student. Moved by her situation, he decided to help. He wanted to give her a little boost, hoping that one day she’d do the same for someone else in need. Little did he know, karma had plans to repay him—much sooner than expected. Just two days later, the universe returned his kindness in a surprising way!

Here’s Deric’s story in his own words:

“A few days ago, I was standing in line at the bank. Behind me was a girl holding a mason jar filled with coins. I joked that she should wait until the jar was completely full before cashing it in. She smiled and said she couldn’t wait—she had no money left in her account, and her jar of coins totaled maybe $5.

I remembered being a broke college student myself, nearly 30 years ago. So, when I got to the cashier, I told them to withdraw $50 from my account. I asked them to deposit it into the girl’s account along with her coins. The cashier looked at me, surprised, and asked, ‘Do you know her?’ I said no, but I felt she needed the money more than I did.

The cashier told me it was one of the kindest things she had ever seen. I left the bank feeling good, quietly asking God to bless me too because, like everyone, I still had bills to pay.

That night, at the end of my workweek, karma came back around. My last customer’s dinner bill was $49, but they tipped me $50—the exact amount I had given to the young woman! Instead of the usual 18% or 20% tip, they gave me 100%! Karma had repaid me, and I felt blessed.

So remember, when you ‘pay it forward,’ it always finds a way back to you. Wishing everyone a fantastic week ahead!”
