Would You Attend a Wedding That Only Serves Water?

Weddings are supposed to be a celebration of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. But for one bride, her choice of wedding drinks—or lack thereof—has sparked a heated debate online.

Taking to Reddit’s famous Am I The A****le forum, the bride revealed her unusual decision: her wedding would be completely dry, with only water served to the guests. Yep, not even a soda in sight!

She explained, “My husband and I are getting married later this year, and since we’re paying for everything ourselves, we decided to skip alcohol. We don’t drink, and honestly, we usually just stick to water anyway.”

Her reasoning was practical. With 100–150 guests and a tight budget, she didn’t want the added cost of alcohol—or any beverages beyond water. Even an open bar wasn’t appealing because of the cost of hiring a bartender.

But when her family and friends found out, the backlash was swift. Some called the choice “boring,” while others suggested it was downright “tacky.”

One Reddit commenter summed up their frustration: “If you tell me it’s water only, I’m leaving the reception and grabbing a 12-pack of Diet Pepsi!” Another joked about pregaming in the parking lot, saying, “No iced tea or soda? I’d definitely be sneaking in my own drinks.”

Not everyone was against the bride, though. One supporter wrote, “It’s your wedding, your rules. People can survive without their soda or wine for one night.”

Despite the mixed reactions, the bride stood by her decision, questioning why it mattered so much. After all, it’s her special day, right?

The internet remains divided. Some see the bride’s water-only policy as a bold move, while others think it’s a step too far.
