Would You Eat a Meaty Burger Next to a Vegetarian on a Flight? This Guy Did!

Flying comes with its fair share of annoyances—crying babies, seat kickers, and that one person who immediately reclines their seat. But what about the food you eat onboard? Can your meal choice make you the villain of the flight?

One man recently found himself at the center of an unexpected in-flight controversy—all because of his burger.

A Bite of Trouble

During an eight-hour flight, a hungry passenger decided to treat himself to a burger and fries during a layover. Before boarding, he even double-checked with the gate agent to make sure outside food was allowed. No problem there.

But as soon as he unwrapped his meal and took the first bite, he felt the burning glare of his seatmate—a vegetarian who was less than thrilled with the smell of his food.

“I know I’m right when it comes to the airline rules, but the food is pungent in an enclosed area, and she’s still glaring at me,” the man shared on Reddit.

Internet Weighs In

Feeling unsure, he turned to the internet to ask if he was in the wrong. Turns out, most people had his back.

One person bluntly put it: “This is a plane, not this woman’s personal dining room. If she wants total control over what’s in the air, she should fly private.”

Another agreed: “Eating on a plane is normal and acceptable. If she had a problem, that’s on her.”

A third offered some practical advice: “Tell her the sooner she stops complaining, the sooner you’ll finish your food, and the smell will be gone.”

The Real Question

Of course, some foods probably shouldn’t be eaten in tight spaces (looking at you, tuna sandwiches on public transport). But where do we draw the line?

Was this guy inconsiderate, or was his seatmate overreacting? What do you think? Would you eat a burger on a flight, or would you pick something less “fragrant”? Let us know!
