Would You Leave Your Spouse at the Airport? This Man Did

Would you leave your partner behind at the airport to make your flight? That’s exactly what one man did, and the internet is buzzing with opinions.

A 47-year-old from the Pacific Northwest shared his side of the story on Reddit’s AITA subreddit, where he explained the dramatic events leading up to his controversial decision. The debate started after he left his wife at the airport while he boarded a plane to visit their daughter on the East Coast. His reason? She went off to get Starbucks despite their tight connection time.

“I’m very Type A,” he admitted in his post. “I like being organized and early, especially when it comes to travel. My wife, on the other hand, is more laid-back—too laid-back for my nerves.”

He recounted a previous incident to illustrate their differing travel habits. On a prior trip to visit their daughter, he tried to leave the house by 8 a.m. to catch a 10 a.m. flight. Despite his repeated attempts to wake her up, his wife delayed their departure until 9 a.m., leaving them scrambling through security. Unsurprisingly, they missed their flight.

Fast forward to the latest trip: The couple landed in their connecting city with only 25 minutes until their next flight began boarding. They had to move quickly between terminals, but once they arrived, his wife dropped a bombshell—she wanted Starbucks.

“I told her there wasn’t time,” he wrote. But his wife insisted, saying she’d be back in time. The Starbucks was a rail ride and a walk away, but she went anyway, leaving him waiting anxiously at the gate.

As boarding groups were called and the final announcement loomed, the man tried to call her, but she didn’t pick up. Faced with a tough decision, he boarded the plane, leaving his wife to figure out her own way to their destination.

When they reunited at their daughter’s school, his wife gave him the cold shoulder, though she seemed unfazed about missing the flight. Meanwhile, commenters on Reddit rallied behind him, with many praising his decision.

“She’s so selfish,” one commenter wrote. “You warned her. Honestly, she needs to grow up.”

Another added, “At least your daughter had one parent show up on time. You did the right thing.”

Still, not everyone agreed. Some argued they’d never leave their partner behind, no matter how frustrating the situation.

So, what do you think? Did this husband make the right call by prioritizing the flight, or should he have waited for his coffee-loving wife? Share your thoughts in the comments! And if you’ve ever faced a similar dilemma, we’d love to hear your story.
