Would You Let Your Kid Sleep in Their School Clothes? This Mom Does!

Any parent knows that getting kids ready for school in the morning can feel like an Olympic event. Between the missing shoes, the sleepy dawdling, and the last-minute bathroom trips, it’s enough to make anyone wish for a shortcut.

Well, one mom thinks she’s found one—and the internet has thoughts.

Popular content creator Ms Rachel shared her unconventional parenting hack with her 3.5 million TikTok followers: she dresses her son for school the night before. Yep, instead of battling with buttons and sleeves in the morning, her little boy wakes up already dressed and ready to go.

“We put on a nice new shirt, sweatpants—super comfy, great for jammies—and when he wakes up, we just throw on sneakers,” she explained in her now-viral video.

Her reason? She simply doesn’t have the energy to fight the morning chaos right now. “Someday, I’ll teach him to wake up earlier and get dressed in the morning,” she admitted. “That will be a very good thing to teach. But I can’t do that right now, and that’s okay.”

She ended her video with a supportive message for other parents: “I’m doing my best, and so are you. I love you.”

The clip has racked up over 9 million views and 18,000 comments, with people fiercely debating whether her trick is brilliant—or just plain lazy.

The Internet Reacts

Not everyone was on board. One commenter wrote, “NA Ms Rachel, you wrong for this… a nice bath wakes you up.” Another added, “So he doesn’t bathe in the morning? Where I’m from, kids bathe morning and night.”

Some were more concerned about the practical side: “But then it’s all creased and sweaty. Takes 5 mins to get them dressed.” Another joked, “Tell me something that feels illegal but isn’t.”

But others came to her defense. “It’s okay, you do whatever works. You’re raising millions of kids,” one supporter wrote. Another added, “Ms Rachel being so relatable is extremely healing.”

Some parents of children with special needs even found her hack life-changing. “I have a nonverbal toddler with autism and never even considered this… I guess because it’s not the norm? Thank you!”

Ms Rachel Responds

With so many questions flying around, Ms Rachel jumped into the comments to clear things up.

She reassured skeptics, saying, “To answer the questions: he bathes at night, he doesn’t get sweaty at night, and if he did, we’d grab new clothes. P.S. No issues with wrinkly clothes so far!”

At the end of the day, every parent has their own way of making mornings a little less chaotic. And if it works for them—who are we to judge?
