Would You Pay $2,400 for a Cocktail? This Woman Didn’t Mean To!

Vacations are all about indulgence—good food, fancy drinks, and a little carefree spending. But one woman took “treat yourself” to an extreme when she unknowingly ordered a cocktail that cost a jaw-dropping $2,400.

Lynsey Bennett, who was visiting London with her husband, shared her unfortunate bar tab experience on TikTok. What was supposed to be a simple nightcap at their hotel bar turned into an expensive mistake after she unknowingly ordered a drink called “1890.”

“I always drink champagne; I rarely drink cocktails,” Bennett explained in her video. So, when she saw “1890” on the menu, she assumed that was the price—$18.90. She was very wrong.

The drink wasn’t just any cocktail—it contained Cristal Champagne, 30-year-old whisky, cognac, and gold leaf. By the time the bill arrived, the reality hit hard: £2,000 (about $2,400).

“I was like, ‘Uh oh, I can’t afford to pay that,’” she admitted, realizing her costly mistake.

The bartender, also taken aback, immediately called the manager. Thankfully, instead of demanding an immediate payment, the hotel staff handled the situation gracefully. The manager allowed Bennett to return to her room while they sorted it out.

A few days later, she revisited the bar, where the manager jokingly mentioned that the bartender had faced “additional training” after the incident.

In the comments, one TikTok user asked what made the drink so expensive. Bennett revealed the luxurious ingredients and joked, “I must have been more tipsy than I thought.”

Another commenter questioned why the bartender didn’t confirm the price before making the drink. Bennett agreed, saying, “Yes, he should have, bless him. He had just started and was excited to make it.”

Let this be a lesson—always check the price before ordering, especially if your drink starts getting sprinkled with gold.
