A woman recently revealed on Reddit that her sister, the bride, made a jaw-dropping demand: every bridesmaid must cut their hair at least six inches shorter than hers. And her reason? “Nobody can have longer hair than the bride.”
The woman, who cherishes her knee-length hair as a part of her identity, shared her disbelief at the request. “My sister’s hair reaches the middle of her back, which is two feet shorter than mine. She even convinced one bridesmaid to cut hers. But when I said no, she freaked out,” the poster wrote.
The bride insisted that all bridesmaids wear their hair down, claiming that an up-do would still “distract people.” Despite offering to step down as a bridesmaid and attend the wedding as a guest, the drama only escalated.
The situation grew even more intense when the bride’s fiancé joined the fight, suggesting the sister cut her hair and reassuring her it would “grow back.” Later, he called again, claiming the bride had been crying for 30 minutes over the issue.
In a last-ditch effort, the bride tearfully agreed to let her sister keep her long hair—as long as she wore it up. But when her sister accepted the compromise and opted to step down as a bridesmaid anyway, the bride sobbed harder and hung up.
