Would You Say This at Your Wedding? Groom’s Wedding Vows Spark Online Debate

A groom’s wedding vows have sparked a whirlwind of online debate, with some calling them hilarious while others see them as a huge red flag. It all started when videographer Jonathan Pajak, also known as @lensculture on TikTok, shared a clip from the wedding, showing the groom, Michael, delivering some very unconventional vows to his bride, Destiny.

For most couples, vows are a heartfelt moment—a chance to share deep emotions and promises in front of friends and family. But Michael decided to take a different route, sprinkling his vows with humor and risqué jokes that left guests and internet viewers stunned.

Before the ceremony, Pajak asked Michael if he had any message for his future bride. His cheeky response? “I hope we have a lot of $ex.” That set the tone for his vows, which began with a whispered, “You’re screwed,” followed by this eyebrow-raising statement:

“Only two things are required to keep me happy: Keep my belly full and my b***$ empty. While you’re amazing at half of it, we really need to get you some cooking lessons.”

The TikTok video has since racked up over 19 million views, sparking fiery debates in the comments.

Some people were absolutely horrified:

  • “Pardon?! In front of loved ones? In [front] of his parents?! That’s HORRIFYING.”
  • “I can’t believe he said that!”
  • “If I were the bride, I’d walk out right then and there.”

Many branded the moment with red flag emojis, while one viewer declared, “I would have ended it there.”

But not everyone was ready to cancel Michael. Destiny herself chimed in to reassure everyone, writing, “So [I’m] the bride and no, this isn’t a red flag […] we’ve been together for 10 years now and decided to get married right before our 10th year.”

For some, her comment put things into perspective. Many pointed out that every couple has a unique dynamic and that context matters.

In fact, Michael did share heartfelt moments in his vows. At one point, he expressed, “With you and the girls by my side, I feel like I can conquer anything. You all make my life worth living; giving every breath of every day a purpose.”

But, true to form, Michael couldn’t resist throwing in another risqué line, earning a sharp “Michael!” from his mom.

The internet remains divided: Are these vows a playful reflection of a decade-long relationship, or do they cross a line? What would you do if you were in Destiny’s shoes?
