Yes, Dogs Can Tell When Someone Is Bad, It’s Proven

There are dogs that chase people away, and there are dogs that wag their tails when they meet someone. Which kind do you attract?

Ever wonder why this happens? According to a study published in Neuroscience and Biobehavioral Reviews, dogs can actually sense a person’s personality. They can tell when someone is being mean to another person.

To test this, scientists set up different scenarios. In one, a volunteer helped another person open a jar while a dog watched. In another, the volunteer stayed passive. And in the last scenario, the volunteer didn’t help at all.

Afterward, the volunteer offered the dog a snack.

The dog happily accepted snacks from both the helper and the passive volunteer. It seemed the kinder the person was, the more the dog trusted them.

But when the volunteer who didn’t help tried to offer a snack, the dog ignored them. It was like the dog knew who not to trust.

So, it’s clear—dogs judge us. Isn’t that amazing? In a world full of fake people, we could learn a lot from dogs.
