The animal kingdom is full of heartwarming friendships, and this story is one of the sweetest ones yet. Just look at how adorable they are!
Meet Leonardo, an African spurred tortoise. He was rescued in 2013 from a zoo closure in Bangkok, Thailand. After his rescue, Leonardo was brought to the Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand (WFFT) Rescue Center, a safe haven for hundreds of animals in need. It’s a place where animals who have nowhere else to go can find comfort and care.
Leonardo has been living happily at the sanctuary, enjoying a peaceful life. But his story was about to take a heartwarming turn.
Enter Simon, a young cow. When he was just a calf, Simon got tangled in vines while grazing with his mother. The WFFT stepped in to help, providing Simon with a prosthetic to help him walk. Though the plan was to introduce Simon to the other cows at the sanctuary, Simon had other ideas.
When Simon first saw Leonardo, it was love at first sight. The two immediately formed a strong bond, and they’ve been inseparable ever since. The WFFT says that they are often seen following each other around, sharing meals, and even resting together.
This unlikely friendship has brought so much joy, not just to Simon and Leonardo, but also to the rescuers at WFFT. It’s a beautiful reminder of the amazing connections that can form, no matter how unexpected they may be.
